JAMUGURIHAT, Dec 6 - A teacher of the Sootea Normal School, Dr Anjan Deka, who has faced many allegations against him and was also accused of accepting bribes from candidates, has returned the amount he had allegedly taken from a candidate.
Dr Deka was accused of taking bribes from aspiring candidates with the promise of providing seats and high marks in the DEl Ed examinations, along with a false promise of facilitating government jobs.
Dr Deka had allegedly taken an amount of Rs 60,000 from one of his trainee students, Isahak Ali, with the promise of providing him a teachers job.
As Isahak did not get the job of a teacher within the promised time, he started asking Dr Deka to return the money. Isahak belongs to a BPL family.
When Dr Deka refused to return the money, Isahak sought help from the Goria Moria Deshi Parishad with enough evidence. In the mean time, unfortunately, he passed away apparently due to stress.
With the evidence in hand, members of the Parishad approached the director of SCERT, Guwahati, for justice. The director promptly acted on the allegation and sent two officials for departmental inquiry. But, before the submission of the inquiry report, Dr Deka handed over the bribery amount to the members of the Parishad in presence of the principal of the Sootea Normal School.
