TURA, Jan 10 - An eleven-year-old minor from Mendipathar gave five of his kidnappers the slip after being kidnapped a day before. The child, a student of Class V in a local school, narrated how he made the escape.

I was playing with my friends when I was called by one of the kidnappers, Biswajit Adhikary (now in police custody) whom I knew. When I went towards him another four men caught me and immediately put me in a vehicle while Adhikary stayed behind, said Mustaqfizur Rehman, the 11-year-old.

The parents of the child got worried and contacted the Mendipathar police when he did not return home till evening. It was only at about 7.30 pm that we were confirmed of the kidnapping after receiving a call from the abductors. They demanded Rs 50 lakh, said the father of the victim. The Mendipathar police contacted their Goalpara counterparts for launching an immediate operation to rescue the boy.

There were five people and my kidnappers first took me to Damra where they stopped and Adhikary joined them. From there they took me to Rajapara where they fed me. They also gave me a soft drink after taking which I fell asleep. I did not wake up until late in the night when I found myself atop a hill near Dhupdhara, said the young boy.

Police operations in and around the area led the abductors moving the minor from Dhupdhara to near Boko in Assam. Police were doing house checks around where I was kept that night and they whisked me away and kept me in a house near a field. They also tied me to a pole. They threatened me not to come out but left the door open and began to argue among themselves. The ropes were apparently not done properly and when I tugged at the rope it gave way. I quickly ran from the room while they were arguing, added the braveheart.

In an element of luck the boy found Rs 200 lying on the road. It was morning so I walked as far as I could and found the money on the road. I hired an auto and managed to reach Singra near Dhupdhara where I explained my situation to some people who took me to Rangjuli PS. The Krishnai PS was then informed and they informed my parents, added the boy.

Assam police managed to nab the mastermind behind the kidnapping Adhikary and another three.
