Brajamohan Sarma lecture

GUWAHATI, Aug 23 - Noted journalist P Sainath will deliver the 13th Brajamohan Sarma Memorial Annual Lecture at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC), Uzanbazar here at 11 am on September 3.

According to the organisers, Brajamohan Sarma Memorial Trust, the noted journalist will speak on �Inequality and what it does to India.�

Brajamohan Sarma was a Gauhati High Court advocate and he was well connected with social activities and died a premature death on September 3, 2004 due to brain haemorrhage.

The lecture in his memory was instituted in 2005 and it was first delivered by Prof Prabhat Patnaik. In subsequent years, the annual lecture was delivered by Justice (retired) Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury, Patricia Mukhim, Dr Hiren Gohain, Sitaram Yechury, Prof Jayati Ghosh, Brinda Karat, Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury, Prof Malini Bhattacharjee, Prof Manoranjan Mohanty, Siddhartha Varadarajan and Prof Utsa Patnaik.

The lecture function will be presided over by Justice (retired) Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury. It will be inaugurated by former State Chief Secretary HN Das.
