Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival from July 22

GUWAHATI, July 19 - The Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) which has been dedicated to various aspects of film making, will be held at Pragjyoti ITA, Machkhowa from July 22.

The festival, in its fourth edition this year, will have a lot to offer to movie buffs like interactive sessions with renowned filmmakers, workshops, contests, film screenings and cultural performances.

The festival, supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, DoNER will conclude on July 24. The event, which is open to all, will screen the top 15 short films submitted for the Brahmaputra Valley Short Film Contest 2016.

On day one of the festival Mizo film Kima�s Lode Beyond The Class directed by Zualaa Chhangte which won the Best Mizo Film at the National Awards will be screened. Manipuri film Eibusu Yaohanbiyu by Maipaksana Haorongbam which won the Best Manipuri Film at the National Awards will also be screened on the same day.

Assamese film Tezpur 1962, directed by Samujjal Kashyap, which won the award for Best Investigative Film at the National Awards this year will be screened on July 23 at 5 pm.

Several other films which won recognition at the National Awards including the Wancho film The Headhunter by Nilanjan Datta which won the Best Wancho Film at the National Awards, will be screened during the festival.

The event will feature film making workshops by experienced filmmakers, interactive sessions with Imtiaz Ali, Reema Kagti, Vandana Kataria, Amrit Pritam and many others. A film quiz competition will be held as part of the festival, where movie buffs will get an opportunity to win cash prizes.

One Last Question, by director Prathamesh Krisang which won the Golden Palm Award at the 10th Mexico International Film Festival 2015, will be screened on July 23 at 2.15 pm.

Assamese film Dooronir Nirola Poja by director Dhruva J Bordoloi will be screened on July 24.
