GUWAHATI, Sept 22 - In the backdrop of the degradation that has crept into the society where spirituality and peace have taken a backseat, the Guwahati Chapter of Brahma Kumaris is organising a public programme here from tomorrow to promote spiritualism and peace.
The five-day spiritual event is aimed at promoting the teachings of the Gita in its true spirit and revealing the symbolic meaning behind the ancient legend of the Mahabharata in which the Supreme Intelligence teaches the warrior King how to walk the path of spirituality in the battleground of life, and how to practice Raja Yoga, the Yoga of Sovereignty.
Under the present circumstances, it has become very important to revive spiritualism, that will lead to peace. Whether poor or rich, all are disturbed in one way or the other. Despite the political empowerment, economic empowerment, empowerment through education and science, empowerment of women and empowerment in other areas, violence, crime and injustice have not come down, but have been constantly on the rise. While the world is moving fast in attaining excellence in science and technology in pursuit of providing amenities such as new means of communication, entertainment and new methods of healthcare etc., real peace and happiness have eluded mankind, said the organisers, adding that humanity today has all the resources, tools and talents for establishing a better place to live in and now it needs the ignition through spiritual empowerment to give it the right direction, so that this enormous potential is utilised for the common well-being of all .
The topic of the event is Revelation True Essence of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
Two sessions will be organised in the auditorium of GMCH. One session on Gita is scheduled for tomorrow from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm and the other session on Rajyoga is slated for September 24 from 6.30 am to 8 am. The purpose of this Rajyoga camp is to help people experience spiritualism and also to inculcate spiritual values in day-to-day life.
The event will be inaugurated by the Governor tomorrow.
