BPO, software technology park on cards for Silchar

SILCHAR, Sept 21 - Union Minister for Law and Justice, Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, has announced that as a part of spreading the technological know-how across the smaller cities of the country, Silchar, the second biggest urban sprawl in the State, will have a Software Technology Park of India (STPI) and a BPO.

Delivering a talk on �Digital Advancement in India � presenting New Opportunities for North East,� on the occasion of 79th birth anniversary of former Silchar MLA Late Bimalangshu Roy, the Minister for Information Technology said, �Digital India drive is designed to empower India and every Indian. IT plus India�s talent is equal to India tomorrow, which is the vision of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We want to boost technological growth in North-east and Assam has a huge potential to be a part of the one trillion dollar digital economy we aspire to achieve.�

Prasad has asked the State government to allot necessary land for the venture. Also, the minister has made it clear that enterprising entrepreneurs must step up to set up a BPO at Silchar.
