BPF sweeps all three LACs in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, May 20 - The BPF has won all the three Assembly seats in Kokrajhar district. In Kokrajhar East LAC, sitting MLA and former minister Promila Rani Brahma won for the sixth time, defeating her nearest UPP candidate, Pratibha Brahma, by a margin of 40,083 votes. Promila Rani Brahma bagged 73,496 votes, while Pratibha Brahma got 36,405 votes. AIUDF candidate Manu Borgayary remained in the third position with 12,588 votes.

In Kokrajhar West LAC, Rabiram Narzary of the BPF defeated the nearest AIUDF candidate, Dahit Chandra Brahma, by 17,341 votes. BPF candidate Rabiram Narzary got 64,424 votes against AIUDF�s 47,083 votes. UPP candidate and president of UPP UG Brahma (former Rajya Sabha member) got only 18,629 votes and had to be content with the third position.

In the Gossaigaon LAC, Majendra Narzary, sitting BPF MLA, defeated his nearest candidate, Ravisankar Kasireddy of the AIUDF, by a margin of 5,831 votes. Majendra Narzary got 45,244 votes against 39,413 votes of the AIUDF candidate. Congress candidate Ashim Hasda was placed in the third position with 32,106 votes.

Terming the BPF�s victory in the BTAD as �people�s victory,� BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary said that the alliance government would do everything possible to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people of the BTAD. Mohilary also thanked the people of the BTAD for reposing their faith in the BPF by casting votes in favour of the BPF.

All the winning candidates of the BPF, Promila Rani Brahma, Rabiram Narzary and Majendra Narzary also thanked the voters for their grand victory and assured to work for the all-round development of their constituencies.
