BPF steps up campaign in Gauripur LAC

GAURIPUR, March 20 - The BPF has fielded Banendra Kumar Mushahary from 24-Gauripur LAC well ahead of other parties, who have not yet announced their candidates.

The BPF has already stepped up its campaign in many places of the constituency. Kazigaon and Debitola areas of the constituency are dominated by Rabha and Bodo voters and therefore the party has organised a series of rallies in the areas where the BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary also took part.

Banendra Kumar Mushahary is contesting for the third time from the seat. In 2011, he won the seat securing a total of 53,846 votes and his nearest rival INC candidate Mahibul Haque secured 28,444 votes. In 2011, there were altogether 10 candidates and except the main rivals and the AIUDF candidate, all the other candidates lost their security deposits.

This time the total number of voters is 1,78,895 and out of these voters, male voters number 92,764 and the female voters number 86,221. The number of 'D' voters is 2,832.
