BPF blames State Govt for unrest in BTC area

By Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, July 4 - Lack of will and inadequate action on the part of the ruling government in the State has created an atmosphere of political instability and unrest in the BTC area, alleged BPF general secretary Probin Boro.

Talking to mediapersons here on Fridaly, Boro alleged that the government has taken no steps to nab the culprits who were involved in killing and targeting BPF workers in two separate incidents in the region.

He also stated that in the first incident on June 8 last, one BPF worker was kidnapped from Gossaigaon and later killed while another BPF worker from Salbari in Baksa district was shot at when he was watching TV at his residence Thursday night, he said.

The BPF leader described such incidence a political conspiracy of the BJP government to make the area politically unstable and reduce the strength of the BPF under the leadership of Hagrama Mohilary.

These have become pertinent in view of the BJP in power in Dispur pushing the BPF to the sidelines to gain political mileage by associating themselves with other political groups in the BTC region, he said.

On the other hand, the BPF leader stated that the party is maintaining its commitment towards keeping alliance with the BJP-led government but on the contrary, the BJP is unexpectedly betraying the alliance with its double standard role, which is most unfortunate, he alleged.

He categorically made it public that on one hand, the BJP as a party is maintaining its stand for the Governors rule in the BTC area while on the other hand, the BJP government in the State recommends extension of the term of the erstwhile BTC led by Mohilary.

Boro, however, expressed his view that the people of BTC area have reposed confidence in the BPF in the last BTC elections and the ensuing elections will also bring about a clear mandate in favour of the party in the BTC area.
