BPF accused of foul play by opponents

BONGAIGAON, April 6 � With a view to disrupt the poll campaign by the Congress and Independent candidates in Chirang district, BPF workers have adopted undemocratic tactics, alleged Congress candidate of No. 15 Kajalgaon constituency Supriya Rani Brahma.

Wherever she goes to organise poll campaigns, BPF workers follow her to foil her attempts at garnering public opinion against the BPF, she alleged. Congress workers are being threatened by BPF workers in the constituencies under Chirang district, Brahma added.

On the night of April 4, the Congress election office at Batabari under Bijni PS was torched by BPF workers. Brahma called for deployment of more security forces in her constituency and Chirang to conduct smooth polls. Otherwise, fair poll is not possible in BTC, she warned.

In this context, Chirang district Youth Congress president Swapan Basumatary warned that if any untoward incident takes place during the coming days in Chirang, BPF will be responsible as the party will not remain a mute spectator.BPPF candidate Dhananjay Basumatary made the same allegation in his constituency, No. 15 Kajalgaon.
