BP Gupta U-13 cricket from April 10

SILCHAR, April 8 - In a bid to enthuse budding cricketers of the district, District Sports Association Silchar will host the under-13 inter school cricket tournament from April 10-14.

Subimal Dhar, secretary of DSA Silchar informed that the tournament will have six teams. The tournament will be organised in memory of Bishnu Pada Gupta, who had great love for sports. The winners will get Bishnu Pada Gupta memorial trophy and cash award of Rs 8000 while runner-up team will have trophy and cash award of Rs 5000 as well. Also, there are man of the match awards for each match, Dhar said.

Arijit Gupta and Biswadeep Gupta, son and grandson respectively of Bishnu Pada Gupta said �we are happy to support the initiative to promote budding cricketers. We hope to get good response from the players and continue to extend our association in the coming days.�

Babul Hore, president of DSA said that over 200 students are getting coaching in the DSA cricket academy. �We are eyeing to give the players match temparament through such tournaments,� Hore added. Niranjan Das, cricket secretary of the association informed that the matches will be played in the T20 format and on 19-yard pitch at the SM Dev Stadium.
