AIZAWL, March 18 - A 16-year-old boy from Tualpui village who was just about to complete matriculation examination was killed in a street brawl at Khawzawl town on Sunday afternoon.
Lalmuankima succumbed to his multiple injuries at 4.30 pm Sunday after he was brought to Khawzawl hospital, police said.
Police later on Sunday night arrested eight suspects, all of them under the age of 17, from Khawzawl, in connection with the incident.
The boy, who was sitting for HSLC exams at Khawzawl exam centre from his relative�s house, was strolling with his friend around Khawzawl helipad. On their way back, they met a group of young boys about their age.
His friend told police that the boys attacked them without any reason. �I also received a few punches, but they mainly targeted my friend. They punched him and kicked him as he fell on the ground,� he said.
Lalmuankima was left profusely bleeding on the ground. His friend took him to the hospital at 4 pm and he was declared dead at 4.30 pm.
