KALAIGAON, Sept 20 - Indian woman boxer Bhagyabati Kachari was accorded a warm felicitation at her home district Udalguri.

She had recently clinched a gold medal in the 81kg category of the Ahmet Comert Tournament by defeating her Turkish opponent in the final at Istanbul, Turkey.

Bhagyabati was declared the most scientific boxer of the tournament while the Indian women�s team finished third.

Bhagyabati is a resident of Udmari area � a remote village near Bhergaon in Udalguri district.

Her boxing journey started at the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Kokrajhar and has been consistently doing well at the national and international stage.

She has won a gold medal in the NBA sponsored second Elite Senior Women�s National Championship held at Rohtak in Haryana from January 6 to 12, this year.

She had also bagged a bronze medal in the 69th International Boxing Tournament held at Sofia, Bulgaria this year from February 18 to 26.

Dithakananda Hazarika, ADC and SDO (Civil), Bhergaon subdivision expressed his happiness at her success. Udalguri District Journalist Union in a press release congratulated both Pramila Daimari, who represented India at the Jakarta Asian Games and Bhagyabati.
