Bosco Reach Out holds agri training programme

GUWAHATI, May 7 -�Systematic Agriculture can also lead to prosperity.� This was the theme of the training programme conducted by Bosco Reach Out, an NGO, at Bosco Reach Out Agri-Training Centre, Joropara, in Meghalaya, on May 4 and 5, a press release said.

Named �Agrarian Prosperity Training Programme�, it gave an impetus to the 100 members of SHGs from Garo Hills districts who attended the training.

Minku Das, agriculture expert, gave an overview of the agro-composite training centre and dwelt on the topics such as all season vegetables, polyhouse farming, kitchen garden, vermi compost, etc. RomendroRabha, Programme Officer, spoke on SHG management towards better credit linkage. Fr J Teron, Associate Director, dwelt on indigenous medicinal herbs, bee keeping, livestock management etc.

Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills district graced the concluding session of the programme. He also awarded certificates to the participants and distributed planting material and livestock as an encouragement to a few SHGs.

Bosco Reach Out has been working for the upliftment of the poor for the last thirty years. Meghalaya Government in recognition of their work awarded it with Meghalaya Day Award in 2008.
