Borgang ASTC bus stand in dilapidated state

By Correspondent

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 21 - The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus stand at Borgang in Biswanath district is in a dilapidated state.

The staff quarters are covered with dense foliage, and the lone employee, posted there to manage the stand, was transferred to Biswanath Chariali by the corporation a few months back.

Locals allege that the office has become a haunted house. It is in such a state of disrepair that there is every possibility of spoilage of various documents inside the office. It needs mention here that the Borgang bus stand of Assam State Transport Corporation used to serve a large area of greater Behali a few years back and a bus used to ply regularly up to Tezpur in the morning that helped people visit the district headquarters for various jobs.

Local people have been demanding to revive the erstwhile busy bus stoppage and reinstate the bus service since 2016.

Several organisations including the KMSS (Progressive) and SYCPA submitted a memorandum recently to Ashok Bhattarai, chairperson of Assam State Transport Corporation in this respect, urging him to take necessary action as soon as possible.
