GUWAHATI, Sept 20 � The 61st edition of Bordoloi Trophy Football Tournament, the premier soccer meet of the north-eastern region, will kick-start at the Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.

Guwahati Sports Association�s (GSA) Super Division outfit Sunrise Athletic Club will take on former champions ASEB Sports Club in the inaugural encounter.

Veteran sports organiser Chitta Ranjan Bhowmick will inaugurate the championship at 2.30 pm.

This year GSA, the organisers, have decided to hold the tournament among the teams from the North-east region. Apart from six GSA teams, three teams from Shillong along with Oil India Limited, Nagaland Police and Assam Rifles are the outfits which will vie for the title this year. The final has been scheduled on October 2.

Defending champions Royal Wayhingdoh, runners-up Langsning, OIL and Assam Rifles have been placed in the quarterfinal stage directly.
