Bora stresses timely implementation of projects

GUWAHATI, June 13 - State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora on Wednesday set deadlines before the district agriculture officials for implementation of various rural infrastructure development projects such as setting up of shallow tube-wells.

The Minister warned that punitive measures would be taken against officials who fail to meet the deadline in project implementation.

Chairing a review meeting of agricultural projects, attended by agriculture officials of various levels, the Minister also stressed the need for simplifying the rules and procedures of the projects for ensuring the benefits to the tillers.

The meeting decided to reconstitute the Pathar Parichalana Samitis and to free the seed farms of encroachment and streamline their functioning.

Another decision taken was to fill up the vacant posts of agricultural extension officers.
