GUWAHATI, May 10 - A book titled Urbanization, Urban Sprawl & The Periphery, written by Dr Brajendra Saikia was released at a function at Guwahati Press Club here today.
The book �investigates the rural-urban transformation under way in developing countries, especially in India and South Asia, and emphasizes the influence of countries� conditions as well as the potential of good policies to minimise disparities and ensure that everyone shares the benefits of urbanisation.�
The book �discusses the concept and problems of rapid urbanisation along with various theoretical discussions of urbanisation and the urban growth history of both India and Assam.�
Both undergraduate and postgraduate students and scholars in the field of social science research are expected to benefit in understanding the rural-urban linkage through the book.
