Book on Prasanna Narayan Choudhury released

NALBARI, Sept 27 - A book on Prasanna Narayan Choudhury, who led the �medium movement� in the State during 1972, was released at a function held at the office of the AASU�s Nalbari Anchalik unit on Wednesday on the occasion of his 36th death anniversary.

The book titled Madhyam Andolonor Karnadhar Prasanna Narayan Choudhury, written by Puspa Barman, a teacher of Devi Ram Pathsala HS School, was formally released by Pradip Das, an AASU leader.

Releasing the book, Das said the Assamese language would have faced a great threat if the �medium movement� was not held in the State under the bold leadership of Prasanna Narayan Choudhury.

�The State needs such bold leadership now as once given by leaders like Choudhury,� Das added.

The book release function, presided over by Rubul Barman, president of the AASU�s Nalbari Anchalik unit, was addressed among others by Rama Nath Baruah, former president of the Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha, Himan Barman, organising secretary of AASU, Bidyut Narayan Choudhury, relative of late Prasanna Narayan Choudhury, Gunajyoti Pathak and Akshay Deka, president and secretary respectively of the Nalbari district unit of AASU.

The meeting conducted by Nilkamal Barman, secretary of the Nalbari Anchalik unit of AASU, also paid tributes to the student leader who was also the former general secretary of AASU.
