Book on naam released

PATACHARKUCHI, Dec 8 - A book on naam written by Gitika Pathak Roy and published by Akhar Prakash, Guwahati was released on Monday in a function under the aegis of the Patacharkuchi Press Club held at Patacharkuchi Siva Durga dham by noted writer and ex-president of the Barpeta District Sahitya Sabha, Akshay Kumar Mishra.

The function in this regard was presided over by noted social worker Munindra Narayan Goswami. Amidst the presence of a large number of book lovers, the book titled Namar Kunki was released and in his speech Mishra lauded the effort of the writer. The writer sang a naam in the function with her group. Among others, literary pensioner Jitendra Nath Sarma, Rabin Sarma, president of the Patacharkuchi Development Committee, Mathura Mohan Goswami, retired lecturer, Kamal Kumar Medhi, noted poet spoke in the function and lauded the effort of the Press Club. Aminul Haque anchored the programme while Nava Kanta Kalita offered the vote of thanks.

Foundation day:The first foundation day of the New Vision School, Patacharkuchi was observed with a day- long programme on the school premises on December 7.

The flag of the school was hoisted by Mantu Kumar Sarma, president of the management committee. A colourful cultural procession was taken out which was flagged off by Meetal Lama Rajbangshi, headmistress of the school. Plantation was performed by Kamaljit Singh, Asstt Commanding Officer, CRPF and Pranjit Das, O/C Patacharkuchi Police Station. The lighting programme was inaugurated by Ananta Mohan Sarma, Associate Professor of Bajali College while wall magazine and art and science model exhibition were formally inaugurated and declared open by Dr Mukunda Sarma, Principal of Bhabanipur Anchalik College.

The open meeting was anchored by Pranab Kalita, a teacher of the school while Riajul Hussain, a student delivered the welcome speech and Ananta Mohan Sarma and Dr Mukunda Sarma took part as chief guest and special guest respectively. Ananta Mohan Sarma in his speech appealed to the school authorities to mould human resources in such a way that in future they are able to face every challenge and contribute to the society. The students performed song, dance and rhymes after the meeting. Bijita Sarma, a student of the school offered the vote of thanks.
