Book on int�l athletics

GUWAHATI, Sept 10 - A book on international athletics, written in Assamese by noted sports writer Lokeswar Gogoi was released in a function at the Guwahati Press Club today.

Titled Antarjatic Athletics, the book was jointly released by international athlete Tayabun Nisha and veteran sportsperson Col Ghana Gogoi.

Udayaditya Bharali, former principal of Cotton College was the chief guest in the function. Speaking on the occasion Bharali said there should be a proper system in order to produce international medal winning athletes. �At present, in our country there is no such system through which India can produce good number of Olympic medallists,� he said. Apart from having quality infrastructure, there should be co-ordination among sportspersons, organisers and policy makers, he added.

Tayabun, while releasing the book said, sportspersons should work hard and be committed to get result. Sports organiser Nagendra Nath Barman was also present on the occasion.

The book, which contains detail elaboration of the internationally famed athletes, is published by Natun Asom.
