Book on forensic science

GUWAHATI, April 9 - Satyasandhani Forensic Bijnan, a book published by the Assam Science Society, was released by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) Director Dr Arup Kumar Mishra at a function held here on Sunday.

Addressing the function presided over by Science Society president Dr Jayanti Chutiya, Dr Mishra underlined the importance of such books in the study of forensic science. He expressed the hope that the book would help the common readers in understanding forensic science. Dr Kanak Chandra Barua, the author of the book, spoke briefly on its contents.

Addressing the function, popular science writer Dr Dinesh Chandra Goswami, who is the chief editor of the Society�s Prof Balit Kumar Deka Popular Science Book Series Project, apprised the audience of the works done under the project.

The function was also addressed by reviewer of the book Dr Kamaleswar Goswami, former president of the Science Society Dr Anil Kumar Goswami and its life member Dr Dipak Kumar Goswami, among others.

The function was followed by a lecture on �Sakalore Babe Sarbajanin Susasthya� (Universal Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere), on the occasion of World Health Day. The lecture was delivered by Dr Jayanta Kumar Goswami, a paediatric surgeon from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Before the lecture, Science Society executive committee member Najibuddin Ahmed explained the significance of World Health Day.
