GOALPARA, Aug 20 - The book fair which was organised at the school premises of Oasis School here by the Oasis Trust, Goalpara in association with National Book Trust, New Delhi concluded successfully. The book fair was inaugurated by the Superintendent of Police Nitul Gogoi, who in his speech welcomed such a novel gesture of the school management and their endeavour to inculcate reading as a habit, particularly among the students as well as the general public and making books and general information easily accessible to all.
Meanwhile, president of Oasis Trust, Kurban Ali Akand who presided over the meeting expressed satisfaction at the growing interest among the school students and the general public and the increase in the number of publishing houses taking part in the fair.
The fair attracted several publishing houses like the National Book Trust, India, Guwahati Chandra Prakash, Anwesha, Arihant, Gayatri, Pushkar Raj, Ramdhenu, MBD, Azad besides others.
The book fair also saw a steady flow of book lovers but some people also expressed certain reservations as they expected the book fair organisers could have done more to attract more publishing houses having a wide range of books to attract more people.
Meanwhile, a colourful procession by the school students was taken out from the venue. Besides seminar, cultural programmes and prize distribution ceremony and other events were also held.
Conscious citizens have expressed their satisfaction and applauded the organisers while terming the book fair as a landmark event organised in Goalpara town.
Admin reshuffle: According to official sources, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ajit Naranyan Hazarika has been promoted and posted as the CEO Zilla Parishad, Goalpara and Project Director, DRDA along with other residual NRC works as additional charge while Circle Officer. The Executive officer, GMB Balijana Dhiman Choudhury has been promoted and has joined as the Additional Deputy Commissioner here. He has been asked to retain his earlier portfolios until further orders.
