Book analysing Assamese travel literature released

GUWAHATI, Dec 27 - Adhunik Asomiya Bhraman-Sahitya: Oitijya Aru Shilpa, a book on the heritage and aesthetics of modern Assamese travel literature written by Dr Smritirekha Bhuyan was launched by the Vice-Chancellor of Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit And Ancient Studies University Prof Dipak Kumar Sharma here on Sunday.

In the research-based book, the writer, who is a associate professor of Assamese department of Guwahati College, went through a number travel literatures penned by a number of eminent writers of the State.

In the section of heritage of modern Assamese travel literature, Dr Bhuyan covered the works of writers from early days to recent times. To analyse the aesthetics of modern Assamese travel literature, the writer went through the works of Jnanadabhiram Barua, Birinchi Kumar Barua, Hem Barua, Navakanta Barua, Nirmalprova Bordoloi, Lakshmi Nandan Bora, Nagen Saikia, Anima Guha, Karabi Deka Hazarika, Govinda Prasad Sarma and Arupa Patangia Kalita.

Speaking on the occasion, eminent writer and literary critic Dr Govinda Prasad Sarma explained in details about Assamese travel literature. Writer Lakshminath Tamuly also spoke on the occasion. The book has been published by city-based Purbayon Publication.

In another event, senior journalist Nitumoni Saikia released a book Manoshik Jontranar Pora Mukti: Jibanar Aak Natun Jatra written by Palash Kalita here.
