GUWAHATI, May 20 � Bongaigaon marched into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Umananda Bora U-13 Inter District Cricket Tournament.
In the lone match at the Nehru Stadium here today, Bongaigaon edged past Silchar by two wickets.
Opting to bat first, Silchar piled up a challenging total of 130 for four in the allotted 25 overs. Biki Ray (48) and Bireswar Dey (25) were their leading run-getters while Ayush Roy chipped in with two wickets for Bongaigaon.
Chasing the target, the Bongaigaon batsmen were in control from the beginning and almost all of them contributed to their total. Finally, they reached the target in the last ball losing seven wickets. The Bongaigaon team had to play with 10 players. Jaydip Bose was their top scorer with 24 while Sandip Paul added 22.
