Bomb threat message inside flight at Silchar airport, investigation underway

In a major development ahead of the Assembly elections in the state, officials at the Silchar airport in Kumbirgram found a piece of paper with "bomb threat" message from SpiceJet flight SG 8152 which landed here at 1:58 pm from Guwahati on Tuesday afternoon.

According to senior officials of Airport Authority of India, the matter was brought to light after passengers from the flight disembarked and routine cleaning was going on. The flight was scheduled for departure to Guwahati and then to Delhi.

Furthermore, sources informed that steps are being taken as per prescribed procedure and the matter is under investigation.

"We have informed the matter and police will take up the issue. The Bomb Detection team is heading for the airport and the matter is under investigation," credible sources at the airport added.
