IMPHAL, Sept 22 - The Guwahati-bound Air Asia flight from Imphal was reportedly delayed for sometime following a bomb scare on Thursday.
The incident took place when the airlines and airport authority received a security alert around 10.30 am from a passenger Robinson Paotei at Imphal International airport that a bomb was kept inside his baggage, sources said.
An extensive search was immediately conducted by the security agencies, sources added. The passenger who reportedly played the prank was detained for questioning. Later, the aircraft was cleared for journey to Guwahati, they added.
Meanwhile, the Imphal International airport was renamed as Bir Tikendrajit International Airport following a State Cabinet decision on Wednesday.
