GUWAHATI, June 24 � The Gauhati University Teachers� Association (GUTA) members and their families living in the campus of Gauhati University have strongly criticized the act of triggering the blast of a recovered bomb in the old playground, which is surrounded by a sizeable population, by the security personnel on June 20.
Stating that the bomb disposal took place in the GU campus without any prior intimation, the GUTA told this correspondent that many of their family members, especially the elder ones and children, have developed hearing problems following the act of the security personnel that created a deafening sound.
While denouncing such activities in and around residential areas that may cause health hazards, the teacher body urged the university authorities to ensure that the campus dwellers feel safe without recurrence of such incidents in future.
The GUTA also appealed to the government not to indulge in such an act in any academic institution that may create unnecessary panic and health hazard among the people living in the area.
