IMPHAL, March 8 � Unidentified miscreants suspected to be militants exploded a bomb believed to be a hand grenade in front of MM Higher Secondary school at Wangkheimayum Leirak Wangkhei in Imphal East district around 7.20 pm yesterday, sources said.
However, there is no report of any casualty in the explosion. Police is investigating the incident.
The school was in the news recently in connection with the non-issuance of admit cards to students for the CBSE examinations for class X and XII which began on March 2. A functionary of the school management said the school has been facing threat from an armed group.
A bomb was also found hanging at the gate of one Yanglem Janaki of Uripok Achom Leikai in Imphal West district yesterday. The incident evoked protest from the womenfolk who later staged a sit-in demonstration denouncing the unwanted act.
