Bokulban Award conferred on Kamala Gogoi

JORHAT, Jan 29 - Assamese folk song artiste (diha naam and tokari geet) Kamala Gogoi of Morijanji of Teok Revenue Circle in the district was conferred the Bokulban Award on Sunday at a function organised at Chandra Kanta Handique Bhawan (which houses the central office of the Asam Sahitya Sabha) premises here.

The award is annually is given away by the Bokulban Trust and Asom Bokulban Samaj here. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a citation, a seleng sador and a packet of books.

The function held under the presidentship of the Trust president and Asam Sahitya Sabha in-charge assistant general secretary, Samiran Bordoloi was attended by the satradhikar of Sri Sri Ujanial Satra at Teok in the district, Lakhi Kanta Mahanta and president of the Jorhat unit of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dhiren Gogoi.

Kamala Gogoi, along with his troupe performed diha naam on the occasion.
