Body of soldier killed in avalanche reaches home

IMPHAL, Feb 12 � The mortal remains of an Army soldier from Manipur, who was killed in a massive avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir recently, was flown back to his native place last afternoon.

The deceased H Thangsuanlal, 28, who hailed from Churachandpur district headquarter, was from 2 Assam Regiment.

Villagers, family members and relatives thronged the Tulihal airport in Imphal since morning to receive the body of the soldier which was transported from New Delhi by Indian Airlines.

Thangsuanlal�s wife Chinglungningam, 25 and mother of two children sought help from the government as his husband was the sole earner in the family.

Thangsuanlal was among 17 soldiers killed while undergoing advanced winter warfare course when a massive avalanche struck their training school at Khilanmarg near Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir�s Baramula district on February 8.

Major General DS Hooda of 57 Mountain Division while speaking to media here assured that he would look into what help can be extended to the bereaved family.
