Body of missing Arunachal doctor found in river

ITANAGAR, Jan 8 � The decomposed body of Dr Okit Peyang, who was missing from Bana area in East Kameng district of Arunachal since December 20, was found after a gap of 18 days on Tuesday last, according to an official source.

The 32-year-old doctor was inducted into Arunachal Pradesh Health Services (APHS) in May, 2013 and was posted as medical officer (MO) at Bana in East Kameng district.

The MO had reportedly gone to the government quarter of one contingency mate (PWD) at around 10 pm on December 19 and was with him. He went out from there at about 1 am the next day and since then his whereabouts were not known.

The family members of Peyang had even announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for the finder of the missing doctor.

A team led by the elder brother of the deceased which was on the search since then discovered the doctor�s body half a km away from the confluence of Kameng and Bichom rivers. They located the body inside a rock cave, 8 km away from Bana. His body was cremated at the river bank as the decomposed body was not in a position to be taken back to his home town, Tuting, in Upper Siang district, according to sources.
