IMPHAL, Sept 10 - An ex-rifleman of Manipur Rifles, who was reunited with his family two years ago after he had been missing for 40 years, was found hanging from an iron bar attached to a bridge near his village on the outskirts of Imphal today.
The body of ex-rifleman Khomdram Gambhir Singh (72), a resident of Khumbong Mamang Leikai in Imphal West district, was spotted by passers-by early in the morning, sources said. He had been missing from home since last night.
Forty years after he had gone missing from his home, Gambhir Singh, a former member of the paramilitary Manipur Rifles, was traced to the streets of Mumbai in April, 2018 after a video featuring him popped up on YouTube.
Subsequently, the old man was greeted back home during a remarkable return after a Manipur Police team coordinated with their Mumbai counterparts on April 19, 2018. Since then he has been staying at his village.
