TURA, Dec 12 - More than a month after being kidnapped by banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants, the body of head constable Khomraj Bhattarai was today found buried near Rongrong village in North Garo Hills.

The discovery of the body of Bhattarai brings to an end speculation of his fate after police expressed suspicion that the policeman was killed on the very day he was kidnapped. The kidnapping of the policeman had been widely decried by all sections of Garo Hills.

36 year-old Bhattarai was posted in Songsak in East Garo Hills and was kidnapped from near Thapa Darenchi village in North Garo Hills on November 6 along with a person from Krishnai in Assam, one Musulu Ali. While Ali was released on December 19, there was no news of Bhattarai.

Bhattarais body was later taken to Mendipathar for post mortem after which the body would be handed over to the family.
