Bodo peace accord an exemplary initiative of Modi, Shah: Sonowal

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 5 - In order to review the final preparation of the venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s visit to Kokrajhar on February 7, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today afternoon made a short visit to the area and took stock of the situation and progress of work to ensure all-out preparations to accommodate a huge gathering. Sonowal was accompanied by the State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma, the Chief Secretary of Assam and other top civil and police officials.

Talking to mediapersons Sonowal said that the visit of Modi is historic and is focused on the celebration of the historic Bodo peace accord which is a historic moment for not only for the Bodos but for the people of Assam as well as the country. He also said that the Congress Government at the Centre could not dare to take such a step, nor initiated any rational approach to bring peace, tranquility and brotherhood in Assam and the north-eastern region as a whole.

At the same time he also said that the Bodo peace accord is an exemplary initiative of both the leaders not only to resolve crisis and conflicts but also to restore peace and development of this region.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary also expressed his happiness over the visit of Prime Minister soon after signing the Bodo peace accord ensuring peace in the area and resolving the problem of militancy forever.

Talking to media persons, ABSU president Promod Boro also termed the occasion as a historic moment of celebration not only for the Bodos but for the people living in the region as this accord has brought about peace and end of violence, bloodshed and hatred in the region.

DGP BJ Mahanta camping at Kokrajhar in view of the PM�s visit said that the Assam Police has already taken up necessary security measures.
