By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 15 - Police today said that the recovery of the bodies of a woman and her four-year-old son from a private lodge on Saturday could be a case of murder.

However, investigators claimed that the leads into the investigation are still being verified.

Police on Saturday recovered the bodies of Parveen Mazumdar and her son Rizwan from a lodge located in Dispur area under mysterious circumstances.

Although a suicide note was recovered from the room along with the bodies, police said that the handwriting has to be verified.

Parveen had checked into the lodge on Saturday along with her husband Bapan Mazumdar and her son. The whereabouts of Bapan are still not known.

The hotel management told police that they had received phone calls from Silchar Police asking about Bapan on Saturday, which was followed by another call from Bapans brother.

The caller who identified himself as the brother of Bapan over the phone, told the hotel management that Bapan had fled after killing his wife and his son. This prompted the hotel staff to raise an alarm and inform the police, sources said.

Police said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem and forensic experts too have examined the crime scene.

The city had witnessed another incident of suicide on Friday night at a hotel at Paltan Bazar.
