HOJAI, July 29 � Bodies of SSB personnel, who were killed by NDFB militant on Monday near Panbari in Chirang district, have already been sent to their homes from Bongaigaon sector headquarters.
Bodies of assistant commandant Kishore Kumar, SI Pratap Singh and Amit Kr Tewari will be sent to their respective homes by air from Guwahati. On the other hand, the body of SSB driver Gerju Serpa has been sent by a mini bus to Darjeeling from the sector headquarters here.
The confirmed reason for the militant attack is still unknown, SSB authorities said as it was the first such incident in which a militant group attacked a SSB patrolling party in the Bodo belt.
According to police sources, picking the SSB as soft target, the anti-talk faction of NDFB established its might in those forest areas. It is to be noted that while the patrolling gypsy car took a turn on the dilapidated narrow road at Sikhalijhora, NDFB militants opened fire on the SSB party.
The unprepared SSB-personnel could not escape despite retaliating. The style of this militant attack resembled the �Maoist ambush�, official sources opined. After the incident security forces picked up some locals from the forest village for interrogation.
