Blowout preventer to be placed on BGR-5 on July 7: Petroleum Secy

DOOMDOOMA, June 24 - Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Tarun Kapoor visited Baghjan on Tuesday evening. He first visited the BGR - 5 of Baghjan Oilfield and took stock of the situation. The OIL officials briefed the Union Petroleum Secretary about the progress in their plans of dousing the fire and capping the well.

On his way back, Kapoor visited a relief camp set up at Diamoolie TE No. 2 LP School and interacted with the inmates of the camp.

Later, talking to the local scribes of Doomdooma at the relief camp, the Petroleum Secretary said, �Everything is going on according to the plan. If everything goes well , a blowout preventer will be placed in the well on July 7. After placing the blowout preventer on the well, the fire will go up and then the experts can work under it and will cap the well.�

When asked about the compensation to the affected people , the Union Petroleum Secretary told that all the affected people would get adequate compensation as per the procedure.

The worst affected people of this disaster taking shelter at Baghjan-Dighaltarrang ME School were dissatisfied as the Union Petroleum Secretary did not visit their camp which he crossed on his way to and from the BGR-5.
