HAILAKANDI, Dec 4 - Twenty-five people donated blood voluntarily on the occasion of the World AIDS Day on Thursday at Hailakandi. The daylong camp was organised by Hailakandi Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) in collaboration with the district committee of Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donation Forum, Vijnan Mandir and Club Sunlight.
Explaining the purpose of the AIDS Day, the district youth coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sekhar Ranjan Deb urged the young generation to refrain from the unprotected sex and injecting drugs.
Presiding over the meeting, the president of the Hailakandi district unit of Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors� Forum, Dr Paritosh Chandra Dutta explained the benefits of donating blood frequently.
The meeting was also addressed by many others.
