Blood donation camp held at Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT, Dec 26 - To commemorate the 74th year of the establishment of Sonitpur district All Assam Gorkha Students� Union (AAGSU), a blood donation camp was organised at Morisuti, situated to the north of Jamugurihat today. The camp organised at Mount Senai English School was formally inaugurated by Kishor Dahal, ZPC member of Mudhadal. A medical team from the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital helped the camp technically wherein a total of 150 AAGSU workers and other volunteers donated blood. In this connection, a meeting was also held. The camp was also attended by AAGSU workers Sunil Chetry, Rohit Lamsal, Narayan Kharka, Anjan Sarma, Prakash Acharya, Manash Sarma along with others.

Restaurant inaugurated: On the auspicious day of Christmas and the birthday of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika inaugurated a new restaurant at the Kanyaka Bahumukhi Krishi Pam here. It is to be noted here that Kanyaka Bahumukhi Krishi Pam is an agri-based farm set up at Bharali Chapori by the Sootea MLA. Visitors, researchers, guests and project workers from far and wide frequently visit this site. The restaurant was set up with a mission to provide snacks and local dishes for the visitors.

The inaugural session was attended by Dr Akashdeep Kakati, Circle Officer, Naduar and Surjya Kamal Bora, Circle Officer, Chariduar along with others.

Training on cottage industry: The Naduar Development Block and Anchalik Panchayat, Naduar organised a three-day training camp on cottage industry on the premises of Naduar development block here from December 21. Two local experts from Jamugurihat area were engaged to impart the training as resource persons. A good number of people participated in the programme and learnt the skills of making a sieve, bamboo basket (paasi), a winnowing fan, kharai etc., stated Rajib Barua, Block Development Officer, Naduar Development Block.
