Blockades over Dzukou issue

IMPHAL, May 30 � An indefinite economic blockade has been called on Imphal-Dimapur road from midnight of June 1 in protest against the alleged negligence of the Manipur Government in the alleged encroachment in Dzukou Valley by Nagaland.

The Committee for Khoziioy Dzukou Land Boundary Resolution Committee spokesperson and ICHAM president N Rajendro who said that the decision to call the indefinite blockade was made in protest against the passive response of the Manipur Government to the issue. The Committee has demanded deployment of security personnel in Dzukou Valley area and stop the road construction and encroachment by Nagaland authorities 10 kms inside on Manipur side.

PTI adds: The Southern Angami community in Kohima district of Nagaland has imposed a five-day economic blockade against the Mao community of Manipur irked by its alleged claims over the ancestral land at picturesque Dzukou and Kezoltsa areas. The blockade, which began yesterday, was being enforced at Kigwema and Kezo-Kidi junctions, which have roads connecting Mao Naga areas of Senapati district in Manipur.
