Blockade against Nagaland called off

DERGAON, Aug 23 � The five days-long economic blockade against Nagaland was withdrawn today. The decision was taken following the withdrawal of the temporary camp of Naga Arms Police (NAP) set up at Garhbasti at Merapani in Golaghat district last night.

On the other hand the the Assamese farmers were invited to plough the disputed land at around 11 am today and peace has been restored in the area. It may be mentioned that following the encroachment in the Garhbasti area at Merapani district an indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland was undertaken by five organisation from August 18 � AJYCP, KMSS, ATTSA, MASS and Anusuchit Chatra Santha. The organisations blocked NH-39 at Rangajan.
