GUWAHATI, Nov 19 � A full-sized statute of the first Jananpeeth awardee and the former president of Sahitya Academy late Dr Birendra Kumar Bhattacharyya will be erected at his birth place Suffri in Sivasagar on November 25, a press release stated.
The whole project was initiated by Sivasagar Sahitya Sabha, Suffri Sahitya Sabha and well supported by association of tea industries, Dr Birendra Kumar Bhattacharyya Memorial Trust, the people of Suffri, Sonari, Sivasagar and all well-wishers from different places of Assam. Benu Mishra, the great sculptor of this region has sacrificed his valuable time in making the statue, the release concluded.
