GUWAHATI, March 26 - The All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS) today alleged that the Assam Vision Document 2016-2025, released yesterday by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is an insult to the tribal people of the state. The vision document of the saffron party betrays its indifference to the indigenous people of Assam and is anti-development, anti-reservation, said the Tribal Sangha and made an appeal to the tribal peoples of the State to boycott the saffron party during the ensuing Assembly elections in the state.

The Tribal Sangha will burn the copies of this Vision Document at the district and sub-divisional headquarters of the state on March 29, said the Sangha.

In a statement here today, the Sangha said that the BJPs Vision Document has only two sentences on according Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the six ethnic groups of the state and on a grant of Rs 1000 crore to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), said the Tribal Sangha.

The core committee of the Tribal Sangha at its meeting held at the Tribal Rest House here today described the BJP as a party which is hatching a grave plot to snatch away the constitutional rights of the tribal people.

The core committee alleged that the BJP is silent on the issues related to the possible plight of the existing tribal groups of the state in case the six ethnic groups are accorded the ST status.

Moreover, it alleged that the groups named by the Vision Document of the saffron party as the targets of its tribal developmental initiatives are yet to be recognised as STs. Allocation of an amount of Rs 1,000 crore to the BTC is also not going to improve the condition of all the tribal groups of the state, it asserted.

The Vision Document is silent also on the issues related to protection of the tribal belts and blocks, land allotment to the tribal farmers as per the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, 2006, implementation of the Job Reservation Act, scholarships to the tribal students etc., the Sangha alleged.
