BJPs foundation day observance low-key affair

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 6 - The ruling party today marked its 40th foundation day in a low-key manner in view of the prevailing global coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the nationwide lockdown. No gatherings or any other public events were organised by the party.

Assam BJP unit president Ranjeet Kumar Dass unfurled the party flag at the partys State head-office at Hengrabari here. Only around half a dozen cadres were present on the occasion.

Dass also paid floral tributes to past leaders of the BJP and its predecessor Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

Similar low-key events were held in other parts of the State as well. Social distancing norms were strictly adhered to.

BJP cadres put up the party flag at their own residences to mark the foundation day.

State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami said the ruling party has refrained from organising any kind of event on the occasion in view of the prevailing conditions.

Our party is using all resources at its disposal to help our government in the battle. Our cadres are contributing to the PM-CARES Fund. All our elected representatives as well as our office-bearers, from the block to the State level in Assam, have individually started taking steps to provide food and other essentials to needy families in their respective areas, said Goswami.
