BJP wields axe on rebel Ward Commissioners

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, Nov 30 - Ten out of the 16 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ward Commissioners of Dibrugarh Municipal Board have been stripped of various party posts with immediate effect.

The district BJP in a letter addressed to various heads of the BJP wings and units stated that various party posts held by the ten Ward Commissioners were axed for breach of party rules. It is pertinent to mention here that the Ward Commissioners had recently moved no confidence against the incumbent Municipality chairman and subsequently rejected the chairman by calling a floor test.

The Ward Commissioners who are slapped with disciplinary action include Amit Singh, Manik Ghosh, Bajarang Mittal, Jugananda Sensua, Moji Nausawa Rahman, Mamon Mitra Gogoi, Rachana Jain, Champa Dey, Aparna Das and Anuradha Dey. All of them are said to be opposed to the sitting municipal chairman, who is also from the BJP.
