JORABAT, Oct 2 - The BJP Dimoria mandal committee today conducted a cleanliness and tree-plantation drive in association with Sonapur Crematorium Committee on the cremation ground.
The tree-plantation drive was conducted with support from the Sonapur Forest Range office.
Around 20 saplings were planted during the drive and another 80 were distributed among the nearby villagers.
Forester Jayanta Kalita of Sonapur Forest Range said, �The plantation drive is a big affair to promote plantation of more trees to preserve and protect our environment that is facing a severe threat due to the rising pollution levels. It is commendable on the part of the people coming for such a good cause.�
The BJP Dimoria mandal members while expressing their views on the drive said that the sense of responsibility towards the Swachh Bharat Mission would be evoked among local people through this drive. �Mahatma Gandhi�s vision of a clean India will definitely get a shape through such drives,� they added.
