GUWAHATI, March 24 � The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Guwahati City District Committee will intensify its membership drive in the days to come to reach the target of including minimum four lakh new members before the Assembly election. This decision was taken at the executive meet of the district committee which was presided over by its president, Mukuta Deka.
The meet held here was also attended by many senior leaders, including State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya, MPs Bijoya Chakravarty, Ramen Deka and others.
The meet, while observing the strengths and weaknesses of the party, decided to focus on expanding its organisational base. The meet also resolved to get ready for the Assembly election in 2016 and called upon the members to work with dedication for bringing the desired changes in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Siddhartha Bhattacharya said that trust and ethics are important for a political party to reach closer to the masses. He further said that the BJP would fulfil the aspirations of the common people. �The BJP fulfils the promises that it makes to the citizens,� he said.
