BJP to file FIR against Dikkanchi hate speech

TURA, May 8 - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday confirmed that an FIR against Dikkanchi D Shira, Congress candidate for the Tura MP seat by-elections, would be filed shortly.

The BJP had been at the receiving end of alleged �hate speeches� by the Congress candidate during her campaign in Garo Hills. The matter was taken un by BJP State unit who filed an immediate complaint with the Election Commission, after which a show cause notice was served on the candidate yesterday by the Returning Officer, Pravin Bakshi.

BJP spokesperson and in-charge Meghalaya, Nalin Kohli is expected in Tura tomorrow to take up the matter.

�The matter is being taken very seriously after information was received by the party high command. There was a meeting yesterday where State president, Shibun Lyngdoh came to Tura and discussed the issue with party members,� said BJP spokesperson, Biplab Bose.

Apparently the matter was discussed in New Delhi with BJP president, Amit Shah seeking filing of an FIR against Dikkanchi for here comments in the rallies.

�We can�t understand the comments when the BJP is not even in the fray for the elections. Our State in-charge will be here today to take up the matter. We will be filing an FIR after receiving concrete proof,� added Bose.
