HAFLONG, March 3 - At a time when political parties are gearing up to enhance the party strength, mass joining of Dima Hasao BJP workers in Congress has caused a setback to the BJP in Dima Hasao, opined the conscious citizens of Dima Hasao.
As many as 280 BJP workers under the leadership of Hmajanan Langthasa, former BJP President, Dima Hasao and others joined the Congress party ceremonially in presence of CEM , NCHAC Debojeet Thaosen, Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DCC) President, Mahendra Kemprai, EM Kulendra Daulagupu and EM Nirmal Langthasa, who warmly welcomed the newly-joined leaders and workers.
Before the ceremony, the newly-joined workers took out a procession from Synod turning to Rajiv Bhawan and was led by the former District BJP President Hmajanan Langthasa.
Among others, BJP leaders who joined Congress party today were Subroto Hojai, ex-MAC, Gopinath Garlosa, ex-Chairman of Haflong Town Committee, Francis Phoitong, ex-Vice President, Dima Hasao district BJP and Binendra Langthasa, ex-Convener BJP.
Ex-President of Dima Hasao BJP talking to the media said that the ideology of Congress party is better than that of the BJP. He criticised the saffron party�s leadership at both the state-level and Dima Hasao district-level. He said that the state and district BJP leaderships never think for the development of the district. They only run after power. He also said that representatives from various parts of the district have extended their wholehearted support as he joined the Congress party. He hoped that the Congress party in Dima Hasao would be successful to retain the MLA seat in the ensuing Assembly election.
